"The Birth and Growth of MSSN"
School Year 1988-1989 marked the birth of a Preschool – the Montessori School of St. Nicholas. It
was conceived primarily for children ages 3 to 6 years – the child’s absorbent years when he is at his formative
and take-off period.
From a two-room building, four teachers took care of eighty-five preschoolers. To date, MSSN has
grown into a four-storey building, accommodating school children coming from Capas, Bamban, Concepcion
and Tarlac City.
True to its mission and vision goals of developing the natural learning potentials of school children,
MSSN has continuously offered each young child a specifically prepared environment to meet the needs of
rapid growth.
Through the years, MSSN has proven its worth. It has gained the trust and confidence of families –
an indicator of the quality education it offers.
MSSN school administrators and teachers are committed to continue the good start, accept
challenges and work towards achieving higher and noble goals.
For more than two decades, MSSN has moved as one God’s family – each member trying his best
to live each day to the fullest – getting the most from each hour. Each one looks forward with confidence,
and back without regrets.
School Philosophy
We believe that education is the total and harmonious development of the human person towards
the actualization of his potentiality.
We believe in the pedagogy of Maria Montessori wherein the holistic development of man is at its
best during the formative years – from birth to age six.
School Mission
It is the intention of the school to develop a competent, service-oriented Filipino through the integration of practical and theoretical learning – “Educatio Per Theorean et Practicum.”
School Goals
- To contribute to national efforts in developing the country’s manpower resources aby providing quality basic education to preschoolers and children of school age.
- To develop a self-actualized, service-oriented Filipino citizen who is able to empathize for the great masses of disadvantaged Filipinos.
School’s Beliefs About the Child
- The child possesses the necessary structures that enable him to adapt to his environment.
- The child progresses through different stages of development and each stage for the development of his potentials vary at each stage of development.
- The child’s language and thought are different from the adults.
- A child needs to manipulate things in order to learn. Formal verbal instructions must be accompanied with non-verbal ones.
- A child learns best when the experience is moderately novel.
- The child should talk in school, should argue and debate, for social interaction promotes intellectual growth.
The MSSN Seal
The MSSN Seal is composed of a torch, a book, building blocks, a boy, and a girl, within a circle. The seal has two dimensions: theory and praxis, separated by a horizontal line. The torch and the book represent the theory dimension. They symbolize the knowledge gained from traditional learning through reading books and classroom learning. The praxis dimension is represented by the building blocks being manipulated by the boy and the girl, which symbolizes knowledge gained through actual learning in real-life situations. The circle unifies both dimensions and it symbolizes MSSN’s holistic approach in the teachinglearning process. The learners are represented by a boy and a girl, which symbolizes the equality of both sexes in the academe.
